Looking for the shortened version of what's OK and what's not OK?
Bearing in mind that the site audience is international (it's probably not the best place to be advertising perishable goods or any item that can't easily be shipped around the world), you can advertise anything at all.
Provided that you comply with the following rules -
Anything in violation of the PayPal Acceptable Use Policy.
for example - promotion of pyramid or ponzi schemes, matrix programs, other "get rich quick" schemes or certain multi-level marketing programs.
That includes :
If it's something that is likely to cause the FTC to raise an eyebrow, it is not something you should be advertising - anywhere. On a New Zealand hosted server, illegal includes gambling/games of chance. If by putting in effort surfing (or by purchasing with cash, commissions or credits) you are given a chance to win a prize, you are taking part in a lottery which is illegal. This includes any game or rewards system where prizes are distributed randomly to participants who have worked for the chance to win a prize. It doesn't include sweepstakes (random distribution of prizes, but no effort required by participants), competitions, or any games where either all participants receive a prize or the outcome is determined by skill.
For example - "deceptive income claims" or "unsubstantiated product claims".
Any adult/offensive content.
You may have heard the phrase "sex sells". It doesn't here. If your advertisement is likely to cause offence, it is not something we want on this site.
We use a number of sites to help identify sites we do not believe should be advertised. Including -
Any URL shorteners.
They make it possible to change the ad content after an ad has been approved. That's not something we will allow.
Any pop anywheres.
No pop-ups/unders/ins/outs. They are a nuisance, disrupt surfing and often break out of the surf frame. If your advertisement interferes with the user experience, it's not going to be approved. If surfers aren't required to click on a popup to continue, it may be approved, but why would you want to have a popup covering your ad?
Any rotator where content can be changed without some level of checking.
TE and Mailer rotators running the LFMTE or LFMVM script are generally OK, but will be monitored. Other rotators will probably be rejected because of the objectionable content often allowed. Feel free to ask.
Any sites that break out of the surf frame.
They're really annoying and typically take you to unpleasant content.
Any sites that attempt to download or install anything.
We are confident that none of our members wish to have anything installed onto their device without first being asked.
